Now here's a neat little tool in the daily battle against spam. Regular readers will know that I advocate a two pronged approach to dealing with the evil of the spam whores who are trying to ruin our lives – both server and client side protection.
In plain English that means a spam filter running on you mail server which deletes the bulk of the incoming crap, and (if you download your email on to your computer into a mail client such as Outlook) a desktop plug in to clean up the rest.
A plug in is the easy bit. Something light and effective such as SpamAid for Outlook will deal with the odd rouge spam. But non technical folk can find server side programs much more difficult to deal with.
So SpamEater is your answer. It connects to your mail box automatically (after you've supplied the details!) and checks for spam. When you connect and download messages you are left with the ones that matter – no lengthy downloading of junk.
Unlike some automatic ISP filters, you are in complete control. You can check what the program has deleted by scanning the archives it creates, plus it will automatically learn what is spam and what is not.
Try it – Shoutdown recommended!

Looked an interesting program and I downloaded a beta in June. But why won't some American programmers recognise a PCs date format? Sorry, but there is no such date as 6/15/2003 in my part of the world! The 6th day of the 15th month? As a result I didn't look much further, shame really. The GUI looks typically modern and much improved over the previous version.
I posted a question to the knowledge base about this software hanging mid check, and it was answered swiftly. Nice one, recommended.
Loosk like a nice app. Configures easily. Be aware that by default all countries are in the blocked list. You better at least disable the country you are in. I disable all country checking. Best features of this for those advocating K9. 1- Does not download messages to check them. 2- Does not allow HTML webbugs to id you. I recommed this highly.
It works :) was receiving around 10-15 spam email/day and now i'm down to almost none.
