SpamBully

SpamBully review

Thursday, 07 April 2011

SpamBully has been specifically designed for users of Outlook, Outlook Express, Mail and Windows Live Mail. So other than webmail users, that's most of the rest of the population!

Spam is a massive issue. Most of us will have posted our email address online somewhere, which always means one thing - spam. But nowadays we don't have to deal with spam at all - spam protection software is THAT good.

I personally recommend a server level AND machine level solution if you are using a program such as Outlook. I route my domain email through Gmail and then have a spam protection program to protect my Outlook inbox. SpamBully is one such program.

The software itself contains all of the features that you'd be looking for. let's take a walk through:

  • Bayesian Spam Filter - fancy language for a system that will attempt to learn your personal email habits so that it can identifying ham (good emails) and spam (bad emails)
  • Allow/Block List - So that you can manually decide who and what makes it into your Inbox.
  • Optional Auto-Delete - so that you don't even have to see spam
  • Bounce, Report and Punish - Fight back by increasing spammer's costs, returning their spam, and reporting them to the servers they came from and the FTC.
  • Cellphone Forwarding - so you can forward only good email. probably not needed if you have a smart phone however
  • Fraudulent link detection - helps to flag up phishing email messages that are from potentially fraudulent sources to keep you out of trouble.
  • Challenge Emails - automatically send a special password to an unfamiliar sender that they must correctly type in before their email is allowed to your Inbox.
  • Statistics - daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly graphs.

And much more. The software is fully customisable so that you can achieve exactly the right spam/ham balance for you.
