Radmin (Remote Admin) is the flagship product from Famatech, who have been developing remote control software since 1999.
The software is very much geared toward the corporate market. It is a PC only product, and the terminology used on the company website is business focused The product itself is sturdy and very secure, perfect for use in sensitive corporate environments.
So how does Radmin stack up against our remote access buyers guide criteria?
Ease of setup and use
Instillation is straight forward. A program is installed on both the computer you wish to access and the computer that you will be accessing it from. Like pcAnywhere, this could mean asking for permission for the software to be installed on your office computer. Unlike pcAnywhere, both computers must be running Microsoft Windows.
Once installed the system connects to the remote computer is very fast. As soon as the software is running you will see your remote desktop and be able to complete tasks with ease.
Radmin employs very stringent security measures by means of native Windows security, Kerberos authentication and 256-bit AES encryption for all data streams.
Remote access features
When connected you can do anything that you would normally want to do, made easier by the super fast connection speeds. Files can be dragged between computers and files opened, viewed, amended and saved remotely.
Special features include chat (between yourself and the person on the target machine) and remote reboot, restart and shut down.
A free trial is offered for 30 days. Thereafter a single licence costs £34.80 per license. Volume discounts apply to larger licence purchases. Note that the company is European and therefore pricing is in Pounds Sterling or Euro.
Help and support
Support is reasonable. Telephone support is offered, as is an online ticketing system. The website and help files contain plenty of FAQs and tutorials.
If you are a home user, we would probably advise you to look at GoToMyPC. If you are looking at making a purchase for a work environment, Radmin is one of the fastest remote desktop programs you will find.
