We've just heard from McAfee that they're slashing the price of their enhanced premium PC protection. From June 1st through June 30th the following prices apply:
50% OFF McAfee Total Protection 2009 for a discounted price of $39.99 (Reg. $79.99).
50% OFF McAfee Internet Security 2009 for a discounted price of $34.99 (Reg. $69.99).
25% OFF McAfee VirusScan Plus 2009 for a discounted price of $29.99 (Reg. $39.99).
Considering we rate McAfee products highly, these discounts provide a great chance to snap up a bargain.
McAfee is a trusted name in online protection market that has long played second position to the popular Norton range. Those in the industry have for some time regarded McAfee as a better product, primarily due to the fact that it is less of a resource hog.
With it's Total Protection release, McAfee bundles it's antivirus offering with a firewall, parental controls, adware protection, back-up and restore plus tools to help you avoid identity thieves and online scammers. Everything but the kitchen sink.
Because of that, it's a hefty piece of software. Install is protracted and the firewall is a little demanding as it requires the usual training. Once all is set up however the programs run with less overhead than Norton and provide excellent protection and piece of mind.
Advanced users will probably want the lighter touch of the Kaspersky range, however for a family PC this suite is recommended.

@duncn I haz nothing to do. I've got McAfee Total Protection now. It foundeded a trojen :S
We use Total Protection on our new PC and I find it easy to use and good for keeping the kids safe.
In the past we've always had Norton on our computer because it came pre-installed as a trial. I've always been frustrated at a slow running computer and found out that it could be Norton. Unfortunately it was almost impossible to uninstall and I went through many technical websites with no luck.
In the end we decided to upgrade our computer. This time I avoided a package with Norton pre-installed and instead bought McAfee on recommendation of the shop.
Its a much better package and I would encourage anyone to buy this over Norton. Gets my vote.
