We all know that making copies of DVDs is a pain. Without specialist software it's very difficult for the non technical minded to achieve. Lucky for us, DVD Detective is one of a number of products designed especially for the purpose.
The software is mid range. It has an impressive array of features, and can convert both DVDs and BlueRay discs into all popular file formats. It also converts movies for playback on mobile devices - including iPods, iPhones and iPads.
In using the software, we found that the conversion quality was good (although it didn't outperform the front runner DVD-Ranger), however the real drawback of was the user interface. The software is clumsy and unprofessional. Fine for the home user who doesn't look for aesthetics, but for those who like to use a polished interface might like to look elsewhere. The price, at $29.95 is comparable with the DVD-Ranger, but is much cheaper than the feature rich $55.95 DVD Ripper. The choice is yours!
